School's Motto

To develop pupils who are confident persons, self-directed learners, concerned citizens and active contributors.

School's Values

Frontier pupils are academically-strong, holistically developed and have a strong sense of what is right and wrong. Every pupil is a leader and will be able to exercise leadership competencies to varying degrees. Frontier pupils will also cultivate an appreciation, interest or talent for the aesthetic (visual arts and performing arts).

School uniform

The first batch of students wore only the school's PE uniform, which design was unveiled on the school's orientation day in 2011. During the first year of operations, the school will study the needs of their pupils and design an appropriate set of uniform by 2013.[3]

History

This school began operations in January 2012, under the helm of Mr Martin Koh Chin Thong(许振通)(previously the vice-principal of River Valley High School from June 2002 to 14 December 2003 and principal of Zhenghua Primary School from 15 December 2005 till December 2011) as the principal and Mrs Lim-Foo Boon Ching (previously the vice-principal of Xishan Primary School till 2010) as the vice-principal, as the first of 11 new schools(the rest will open in either 2013 or 2014) built under the first phase[4] of the ministry's effort in making primary schools operate single sessions by 2016, when the idea[5] was first introduced on 25 September 2008.

Formation

It all began on 23 September 2010 when the MOE published a press release on details regarding the transition of primary schools to single sessions, listing out the first batch of schools that would be upgraded and new schools that would be built, which includes Frontier Primary School.[6]

Previously, the land that the school building stands was vacant and used by people living nearby to play soccer. Then, in December 2010, the land was boarded up and then began the construction of the school building, by Kwan Yong Construction Pte Ltd. Most of the school building was constructed by end of 2011 and ready for school operations in January 2012. The remaining works, mostly landscaping and construction of the remaining 1/3 of classroom blocks and field, continued on and the school building was officially completed in May 2012.

The school had its soft launch at the nearby Frontier Community Centre on 30 June 2011, from 7pm to 9pm, where the architectural model of it's building was unveiled.

It took in it's first batch of 240 students[7] through the 2011 P1 Registration Exercise at West Grove Primary School from 18 July 2011 to 25 August 2011, under phases 2B and 3.[8][9]
